Welcome To ArtBridge Houston
Founded in 1999 by two board-certified licensed art therapists, ArtBridge/Houston brings the expressive arts into the lives of children in homeless shelters. After working for more than 10 years in psychiatric hospitals with children and adolescents, the co-founders sought a way to broaden their experiences and benefit a larger community through ArtBridge. The program strives to combat the despair of homelessness by nurturing hope and self-esteem through creative expression. At a time when their emerging sense of identity and self-worth is most in need of support, homeless and other vulnerable children are left with few outlets for their emotional needs. The weekly art-making sessions ArtBridge Houston offers in Houston-area homeless shelters create a space free of judgment and expectation to allow children to discover their own creative voices.
